Writing about yourself and your work on LinkedIn can feel like putting your identity and writing skills on display, and your brain reacts by hitting the brakes. That’s why so many freelance health writers struggle to stay visible and credible online: perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and procrastination creep in fast.

This reaction is totally normal, as shown in psychology [1-3].

But as a freelance health writer, I knew I had to start writing on LinkedIn if I wanted clients to come to me instead of relying on endless outreach (which I still hate). So I did. Since starting my freelancing journey in 2022, I’ve been publishing on LinkedIn. I began with two posts a week, not really knowing what I was doing.

Today, I now post almost daily, I have over 11K followers and attract regular leads from my content. I also bring over 10 years of marketing experience to the table and I specialize in SEO, so that’s how I can help you.

    1. What will I actually learn or get from this writing challenge?

    By the end of the 5 days, you’ll have:

    • One polished, SEO-friendly LinkedIn post that’s ready to publish and showcase to potential clients

    • A repeatable process for turning an idea into a short, credible piece of content

    • Confidence in choosing keywords your audience actually searches for

    • A clear structure for writing posts that build trust and encourage engagement

    • A new network made of an SEO mentor (hello!) and fellow writers in the health space

    Of note, I do not edit full blogs as part of this challenge, as you can imagine - but you’ll get your mini blog edited and I remain available if you need additional support.

    Each morning of the challenge (UK time), you’ll get a short email with that day’s task, clear instructions, and real examples to follow.

    Here’s the day-by-day breakdown:

    • Day 1: Pick a health topic and keyword based on real search queries

    • Day 2: Write a compelling intro that hooks your reader and positions you as an expert

    • Day 3: Add a credible reference, such as a research study or expert quote, to boost authority and start learning about EEAT

    • Day 4: Craft a clear, natural call-to-action that invites engagement or inquiries

    • Day 5: Publish on LinkedIn, tag me, and use #bioty so I can amplify your post and send you feedback

    You will not only be writing but rather creating a piece of content that works for you long after you hit publish.

    2. I’m new to SEO/LinkedIn — is this challenge right for me?

    Absolutely. This challenge is designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, step-by-step guidance each day.

    You don’t need any prior experience with SEO, freelancing, LinkedIn, or even writing for a health brand. I’ll walk you through:

    • How to choose a keyword your ideal readers are actually searching for

    • How to structure your post so it’s easy to read and encourages engagement

    • How to add credibility with a relevant, trustworthy reference

    Here is an example of how easy I make it for you to choose your keyword:

    Many past participants had never posted on LinkedIn before, yet by the end of the challenge, they had a polished, SEO-friendly post they were proud to share.

    3. How much time will this take each day?

    Most participants said they spent about 30–45 minutes a day on the challenge.

    For some, it’s as quick as 20 minutes. On a couple of days (day 2 and 3) — especially when adding references or crafting your call-to-action — you might choose to spend closer to an hour (or even 2 hours if you’re a beginner).

    If you want to dive deeper into research or polish your post more, you can absolutely take longer. In fact, 1 in 4 writers enjoyed spending up to two hours a day when they had the time.

    The challenge is flexible and self-paced, so you can fit it around your schedule — whether you’re working full-time, freelancing, or juggling family commitments.

    4. What happens if I fall behind or can’t finish on time?

    It’s best to follow the group’s rhythm for the best support, but life happens — and that’s okay.

    If you can’t keep up with the daily pace, you can still finish your post later. You’ll continue to have access to all the daily emails, so you can work through them at your own speed.

    If you want eligibility for any challenge prizes, you’ll need to publish your post by the final deadline. But even if you don’t make that date, you’ll walk away with a repeatable writing system you can use anytime to create SEO-friendly LinkedIn posts.

    Think of it as a toolkit you can return to whenever you want to get visible again.

    5. Will this help me get freelance clients?

    Yes, it’s already happened for past participants to get freelance clients within those 5 days, but the idea of posting on social media is to be consistent with it as it takes time to build trust. So if you’re completely new to freelancing, writing or new to the health space, posting a few times is probably not going to be enough to get clients. But the idea is to get you going - with a start of a portfolio, and ideas of what to post on LinkedIn, so that you start building this inbound system for yourself as a good habit.

    When you publish consistent, SEO-based LinkedIn content, you’re building trust with your network, positioning yourself as an expert, and making it easy for potential clients to see exactly what you can do.

    Once all posts are published, I’ll review them using a simple 25-point scoring system with 5 points each for:

    1. Search intent & topic relevance – Is your topic something people are actually searching for? Is it relevant to your target audience?

    2. SEO structure & readability – Is your post well-structured, easy to read, and optimized for LinkedIn and search engines?

    3. EEAT: sources & expertise – Are you using credible references and showing your experience or expertise?

    4. Hook & engagement – Does your intro grab attention and encourage the reader to keep reading?

    5. CTA positioning – Does your call-to-action feel natural and invite the right kind of response?

    I’ll also look out for tie-breakers, like original expert quotes, niche angles on common topics, or exceptional empathy and clarity in explaining health concepts.

    Whether or not you win a prize, you’ll finish the challenge with a piece of content you can proudly share, and a process you can keep using to create more.

    Unlike big events, this challenge isn’t about racking up word counts or working on a huge project. It’s about impact — creating one piece of content that boosts your credibility, shows your expertise, and supports your business goals.

    That said, writing is a skill that grows with ongoing learning and practice. There’s only so much I can teach you in one week.       Extra FAQs I received during the Bioty writing challenge:

      • You're free to choose any health topic you'd like to write about. You can write within your area of expertise or choose another topic you'd like to explore. I'll suggest a few for inspiration if you're stuck. You’ll be given clear daily emails that guide you step-by-step through creating a short, credible, SEO-friendly LinkedIn post. Each email focuses on one part of the post (intro, reference, CTA, etc.) so you can apply the technique to any subject you choose.

        You'll also be asked to share your topics and keywords in a shared spreadsheet with the group so that you guys can help each other.

        Of note, I am not an expert in a particular health topic, so my edits during the week are mostly focused on whether your writing is readable, SEO-friendly, clear, structured and aligned with what the audience is looking for.

        However, you'll be able to connect with other writers who may have expertise in your chosen health topic, and I'll encourage you to leverage this network of experts (as we would with client work).

        1. Make sure you can set aside at least 30 minutes a day on average during challenge week. Days 3 and 4 require more time as research is involved - especially if you're new, while other days the tasks could be faster.

        2. If you don’t have one yet, create or update your LinkedIn profile so you can post your work. If you want to share your commitment publicly on LinkedIn to help you stick to it (I know this works for me to get stuff done!), please make sure to tag #bioty in your posts so that I can boost them!

        3. Gather any health topics or ideas you’ve been meaning to write about (one topic = 2 or 3 words) and we’ll refine them together on Day 1.

      • Your post is YOUR content so you're free to share it on any platform (and invite others to join the challenge), but for the winning prize, I will only consider posts published on LinkedIn.

        The idea is to get some of you going on LinkedIn and for writers already publishing there, they will hopefully get the additional support from this cohort. That being said, the primary objective is to get you to write, and not the prize, so only publish what you're comfortable with please 🙏

      • We’ll briefly cover GEO and search intent at a practical level, but the main focus is on getting some of your SEO basics right first.

        As you can imagine, in 5 days, we won’t go into the full research process for investigating search intent or the in-depth strategies behind GEO (like understanding how LLMs work). For reference - it typically takes 1–2 months for my mentees to cover SEO best practices entirely and write a whole health blog from scratch (no keyword nor outline given).

        That being said, even experienced writers told me they learned something new in this challenge.
